A red hot start to the tournament saw Vondrousova pick up back to back straight-sets victories in her first two matches. After defying the odds to defeat number 4 seed Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals, Vondrousova swept up Elina Svitolina and booked her spot in the final.
She then beat sixth seed Ons Jabeur, who was also in search of her first Grand Slam title and was favourite to take the crown on July 15.
As it was, Vondrousova showed more of the supreme shot selection that propelled her to the showpiece, beating Jabeur 6-4, 6-4.
