Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma partnership: Runs scored, records and stats for India’s key batting pair

India batted first and were bowled out for 213, with 20-year-old Dunith Wellalage taking 5 wickets. Indian captain Rohit Sharma top-scored with 53. Wellalage was also Sri Lanka’s main fighter with the bat as he scored 42 not out batting at No 8, but was unable to prevent his side being bowled out for 172.

Kohli and Rohit batted together in ODIs for the first time back in 2010, against South Africa in Ahmedabad. Centuries from Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers had powered the visitors to 365/2 in the first innings.

Kohli came to the crease with the score at 22/1, with Rohit joining him at 40/2. The pair put on 95 in 118 balls to keep India afloat in the chase before Rohit hit Johan Botha straight down the throat of Lonwabo Tsotsobe to depart for 48.
