M.I. Abaga said he was inspired to release ‘The Guy’ to display his legendary position.

The renowned rapper and music mogul was interviewed by Apple Music Africa Now Radio and asked how he finds the motivation to release six studio albums, three mix tapes, and three collaborative albums.

 M.I said: “I’ll be honest, before this project I asked myself ‘is there anything more that I can give? Why am I doing this, is it ego?’, and the answer I came up with is that it would be great if the whole world knew that in Africa there was a legendary rapper that existed, someone who put the whole continent on his back, someone who’s been doing it. I think that’s the rest of the journey for me, letting everybody know.”

M.I. Abaga’s latest album, “The Guy,” delves into some difficult themes that others may not find as significant as he does. To accomplish his goal of revealing the flawed but likeable superstar M.I. Abaga, he enlists the help of a bevy of young creatives. The album has been well received thus far, with both fans and critics hailing it as an introspective collection of works.
